Futile Gestures is a movement collective founded in 2018 by Dot Armstrong, Kyra Smith, Lea Torelli, and Liana Kleinman.

Through offbeat, playful, and unexpected performances, the collective explores the nuances of human connection and creates interdisciplinary events.

 

Futile Gestures works for and with each other. Collaboration, in work and play, grounds us. Mutual support is intrinsic to our company structure. Humor is part of the creative process. The company negotiates the fuzzy lines between public and personal while spotlighting awkwardness, pleasure, pratfalls, and intimacy. We merge our individual ambitions into one big, messy, fun endeavor.
